Ben Reynolds
Music Is The Music Language

Ikuisuus IKU-001

CD
£11.99

New full-length CD from born-again Glaswegian Ben Reynolds combines a title that conflates the obvious with the obviously fucked, as well as a trampoline full of hand-percussion, twonks of steel string and whole choir of wraiths in what sounds like a broadcast from the still-smoking skull sockets of the late Angus MacLise. Comes in a full-colour four panel fold-out digipak.

Ben Reynolds/John W. Fail
Uncabineted

Sharks & Pfennigs 1

CD-R
£5.99

Debut release on this new UK label unites two UK cultists, John Fail of Lied Music/Cenotaph Audio and Mr Ben Reynolds of Ashtray Navigations et al. Great forest of acoustic string that brings to mind the thousand singing reeds style of Kazou Imai, while later tracks feature some claustrophobic gravity squozing cut-up with the last bubbles of dying radio code and some squealing drones. Pretty singular. Recorded in Glasgow 2005-2006, Uncabineted features a guest appearance from Bridget Hayden of Vibracathedral Orchestra.

Book Of Beyond

Last Visible Dog LVD-094

CD
£8.99

New album of acoustic/electric space ritual that feels like an extension of Reynolds work with the Last Night On Earth big band. Features Alex Neilson (Directing Hand/Taurpis Tula/Jandek) on drums on one track.

Ben Reynolds & John W. Fail Uncabineted Duo
2

CD-R
£5.99

"The follow up to last year's Uncabineted collaboration was recorded in preparation for an appearance at the Hard Gaan festival in Belgium and Holland last October. Fail's interest in tape work finds a welcome complement in Reynolds' electric guitar wanderings; the pieces are all atmosphere, recording both the sounds and the sounds' interaction with thin walls." - John Fail
