Edition of 300 copies LP from the solo concern of Justin Frye, also a member of Gary War’s group. PC Worship have a more ragged, basement appeal than much of the Shdwply catalogue, with a crude, DIY psych edge that feels closer to the homemade aesthetic of the early Twisted Village sides than the glazed psych-pop most associated with this amazing label. NYC Stone Age feels like a collection of tracks put together over a period of time and it veers into a bunch of mutually fucked zones: there are some honking brass-led jazz breakdowns that match Joshua Burkett-era Vermonster in terms of excessively-damaged free-rock motion, the kind of claustrophobic private basement psych that would erect temples around Vulcan’s Meet Your Ghost LP and some zoned pop/drone songs. Another great one from a label that can pretty much do no wrong.

“Baltimore’s Teeth Mountain are a “free collaboration” of members that perform live in a space called the Comfort Dome, employing bowed saws, electronic loops, droning cellos, multiple floor toms, and a communal symbol to craft their sounds. You may expect a sprawling hodgepodge of free sounds complete with weird freakouts, chiming bells, and the smell of burning incense from that description. However, that’s not the case with Teeth Mountain. What the eight-piece outfit does, and they do it incredibly well, is create a controlled mayhem of weighty neo-tribal trance music, packed with organic organ tones, distorted cello drones, and a skilled singing saw. Another classic slice of apocalyptic private press garage from the darkest entries in the Shdwply catalogue. Both sides focus on the moodier aspects of their debut with an A-side that sounds like This Kind Of Punishment plays The Doors “The Crystal Ship” with a brass section straight outta Notorious Byrd Brothers. The dislocated backing vocals, heavy cultic atmosphere and killer acid guitar add to the whole wiped-out/west coast ’69 atmosphere.  Seriously need a full length from these guys. All VT copies come on limited non-metallic gold vinyl. Highly recommended.
