Tropa Macaca
Marfim
Ruby Red RR-09
LP
£12.99
"Hailing from small town Santo Tirso in northern Portugal, Tropa Macaca are the duo of Andre Abel/Si mio Superior and Ju-Undo/Joana da Conceiáao. After a couple of splits with like-minded brethren Fish & Sheep and CAVEIRA, "Marfim" ("Ivory") is their first full-length album.
Utilizing various electronics (keyboards, assorted rhythm generators, processing tools) and employing supremely fucked guitar voicings, theirs is an improvised music, of its own school & therefore of complete danger. While you can draw parallels between Tropa_s sound and kraut stuff from the 70s (some Schulze, Gottsching), its been informed by various other music of old and recent times (see Black Dice_s new sound forms, Wolf Eyes homemade noise communication, grime/dubstep, raw house stuff) to create its own breed of psychedelic logics that are cultured by improvisation's progresses.
These three pieces possess a fluid, narrative line driven by pure abstract intuition. Short loops of beats and bass as well as keyboard phrases continually and slowly mutate in texture, harmony and rhythm, with the guitar inhabiting them, birthing some very particular intensifications of the feeling and form that live hidden in these jams. While the flow of it is trance-like, the way its drawn up is concerned mainly with forward motion, creation, integration, disintegration & destruction of itself, the hypnosis in this process its only constant element. Dark ritual psychosis existing inside the domain of the electronic and the outlandish, super intimate, totally on its own. Andre Abel has played in out-rock trio Dance Damage (R.I.P.) and has a keys/drums duo with Pedro Magina called Aquaparque. Joana da Conceiáao has been developing a big body of work in visual arts (& is also responsible for the artwork on this record). Limited to 300 copies, "Marfim" has been pressed on white vinyl." - Pedro Gomes.

Tabata Mitsuru
We All Gonna Face The Rising Sun
Ruby Red RR-11
CD
£9.99
New solo CD from Tabata, ex of Tokyo volume fetishists Loud Machine 5000 and Zeni Geva (alongside KK Null). His solo work has more to do with minimal tonal constructs of repeat-sound ticker-taping your brain into liminal consciousness with backwards tapes, eastern string tones, analog electronics and flashing percussive loops ala hi-fi Vodka Soap.

Temple Of Bon Matin
Flower Footed Ghost
Ruby Red RR-13
CD
£9.99
New set of "deep south psychedelia" from one of the loudest/freest band in America, led by powerhouse drummer Ed Wilcox and featuring saxophonist Vinnie Paternostro, bassist Eric Bayles, violinist Jim Flagg, and percussion/synth/guitar from Jay Reeve. Alongside a bunch of guests the group conjure up the kinda apocalyptic free-form jam logic that would reconcile oracular F/X soaked vox, dunting percussive grooves ala Wilcox's work with Arthur Doyle in the Electro-Acoustic Ensemble and some almost Hawkwind-esque electrified urban guerrilla mainlining.
