Incredible LP from Jessica Rylan aka Can't that brings together a whole host of earlier recording personalities with a bunch of newly-minted musical modes. There are emotionally-unadorned vocal performances that are just eye-wateringly beautiful, creepy taped vocal entreaties that resemble something from Jandek's Put My Dream On This Planet, dense minimalist electro-blunder on invented synth, overheard conversations, bursts of primitive drums, moments of diaristic audio-verite and beautiful, beautiful songs, most especially the piano/vocal material that is as vulnerable, intimate, uncomfortable and awkwardly revealing as anything from the hands of Chris Bell, Daniel Johnston, Sterling Smith or The Shaggs sisters. Recorded in Jessica's kitchen, an Antwerp cathedral and live in a boathouse, this comes complete with liners by Thurston Moore and psych inspired neon pink on yellow artwork by Dennis Tyfus. A revelatory set that stands as Jessica's masterwork to date.
